Weekly Update November 4, 2022

Dear familia,

This past month our church familia officially launched our first-ever community groups and monthly familia hike! We hope and pray that the Spirit will continue to move among us as we work to cultivate a safe and trusted community. As we grow in our love for one another. As we are spiritually formed around the topics of some of these groups. As we go and simply enjoy food, fellowship, and hikes around nature!

We encourage you to remain open, tender, curious, and attentive to what the Spirit is doing in and among us! Please check out the different opportunities to engage in special events or ongoing fall small groups or download the Church Center App where you can explore, engage, and get involved throughout the week!

November Familia Hike

Save the date for the next Familia Hike on Sunday, November 20th at 10am (Location: TBA) led by Jen Arias and Serena Smith! If any of you Pasadena locals would be willing to offer your homes as spaces for people to freshen up before church, please let them know!

Middle School / High School Group

If you don’t already know, we are excited that the middle school/high school group has space dedicated for them a couple of times a month led by Mindy Melgar and Josh Tien. If you are a parent of a kid this age, Mindy and Josh have put together a short survey to gather some information that would very helpful for them. We ask that you take a moment to fill this out, knowing it will be a win for all involved.

Indigenous Heritage Month

Our friend John Williams and his team at the Center for Racial Reconciliation have invited our church familia for an artistic event curated to feature 10 indigenous voices called “Altars of Reconciliation” on Thursday, November 10 at 6pm at Harambee Ministries (Zoom link also available upon registration). We are grateful for these partnerships in our community to engage the constellation of voices that make up our larger Familia. Please visit their website to register for Altars of Reconciliation. The cost is $10.

Lastly, you don’t want to miss this upcoming Sunday! We are still dancing with joy at the celebration led by the Mariachi band last weekend! This Sunday our very own Meleca Consultado will take the pulpit for the first and preach from Acts 13:32-52 and the liberating power of the Spirit! We will engage in holy disruption as the Communion Table becomes a Filipino Kamayan feast! Meleca’s family is feeding us right after the sermon, so come hungry and open to a joyful and embodied liturgy!

Gracia y paz,

Inés
