Building Update
Our leadership team is meeting with the leadership teams of Pasadena Mennonite Church and Conexión Pasadena this coming Thursday (9/7). We’d love your prayers with us as we connect to discuss the logistics of sharing space as three churches in one building! It’s exciting and we’ve already been encouraged by the gracious hospitality and welcome we’ve received from both churches. We’re hoping this meeting provides clarity on the logistics of all the things. But also, that this time together provides a foundation of collaboration and mutuality.
We are also planning a time for our church familia to come see the space, Open House style. Dates and details on this to come as soon as they’re finalized! But just know we’re eager for our familia to see and share time together in the space as well!
Small Groups
We are still looking for small group leaders with hopes of helping cultivate community among our church familia. If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you and connect about starting a group!
As we step into September, a couple of groups are ready to go ahead and launch! One is a Pasadena Community Group co-led by Jason Cheung and Janet Hale. They are kicking off this coming weekend, Sunday, 9/3, from 4-6pm. Moving forward the group will meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 6-8:30pm.
Another group starting is for Single Parents and will be led by Sara Marsh. This group will meet once a month at Victory Park on Sundays from 2-3:45pm. They are launching on Sunday, September 10th with Popsicles in the Park (popsicles will be provided). And kids are always welcome! Bring a folding chair or blanket and come for an afternoon of connection and friendship.
There is still time to sign up for both of these groups! As well as look into others!
More details on these groups and others launching this fall, as well as special one-time events, can be found on the Church Center app. Please download to app to stay up to date on all the ways to lean into community on a regular basis!
Save the September Dates
Sunday, Sept 3: No church service
This coming Sunday is a Sabbath Sunday! So that means no official church service on Sunday! Rest up and enjoy time with friends and familia!
Saturday, Sept 9: Music in the park
We’re invited to Charles Farnsworth Park in Altadena for an evening of music starting at 6:30pm! Look for Becca’s chair with a balloon on it! We think it will be a great way to get out and have fun!
Sunday, Sept 10: Latinx Sunday
We’re kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with our Latinx Sunday at TCHWF. Armando Scott will be bringing the Word! And we’re already anticipating a very special time together!
Saturday, Sept 23: Racial Solidarity 5K
Hosted by our board member, Phil Allen, Jr., founder of the Racial Solidarity Project. You can still register for the 5K here.
Sunday, Sept 24: Anniversary Sunday
TCWHF is turning three! Come celebrate our birthday, familia! And also, this will be our last official Sunday in our church building. So we’re making sure this is a special day to honor our transition as well.
We’re looking forward to all.the.things that await us this month! We believe many memories will be made. And we’re eager to walk through this month, juntas y juntas, as una familia!
