Weekly Updates September 15, 2023

Last Sunday was an especially, uniquely, beautiful service among our church familia. It felt like the best of us. There were so many vibrant, honest, vulnerable, and strong expressions of who are as a Beloved Community. And I cannot thank everyone enough who contributed their piece to what felt like a bountiful table. Surely the presence of our Christ was so joyfully real among us on that day.

As we turn our attention now to this weekend, here’s what the flow will look like:

Sunday, 9/17: Open House at New Church Building

We’ll meet at Missiongathering at 4pm. More than most Sundays, we’re strongly encouraging everyone who’s coming to arrive on time. Because we got places to go, y’all!

At 4:15, whoever wants to walk four blocks up the street with us to the new building can join. We’ll have a move-ment march and feel the ground beneath our feet as we sojourn from one space to another. Whoever would like to drive instead can simply meet us there! And we’ll leave signs on the doors for any latecomers.

We’ll aim to arrive at 1041 N. Altadena Dr. around 4:30. And we’re making sure there will be ice-cold water awaiting us there!

In lieu of a full service, we’ll instead take time to see the new space. And then gather up to share and pray how we sense the Spirit is moving. We deeply value the communal call of a move like this. And so we are eager and excited to be in this new building, juntas y juntos, to feel all the things contigo.

Saturday, 9/23: Racial Solidarity 5K

Hosted by our board member, Phil Allen, Jr., founder of the Racial Solidarity Project. You can still register for the 5K here.

Sunday, 9/24: Anniversary Sunday

TCWHF is turning three so bring on the Mariachi! Come celebrate our birthday, familia! And also, this will be our last official Sunday at Missiongathering. So we’re making sure this is a special day to honor our transition.

Beloved, may the same Spirit who picked up our Zoom tent and led us into Missiongathering be at work among us once more—a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. Our God is always with us. Again and anew.
