Weekly Update August 11, 2023

Change is upon us, familia. It’s that time of year when summer begins to sunset and new rhythms arise on the horizon of fall. And in our own story as a church, we find ourselves facing different rhythms and emerging possibilities going forward!

Building Update

As you may know, Living Way Community Church has officially purchased the church property. And this Sunday will be the beginning of their official services in the sanctuary. We will continue to amicably and lovingly share this space while we worship here. And in so doing, we may see some of their team around as they continue to make this house their home. Please join us in extending our warmest welcome! And also know we’re regularly communicating to them our church’s setup, service, and storage needs.

As for where we’ll end up down the road, we’re still in consistent conversation with our friends at Conexión Pasadena. And we hope to be able to offer more tangible good news on that end soon! For now, continue to join us in prayer as we actively wait!

Small Group Leaders

This summer has brought a continuing group of new folks checking out our church. Which has been awesome! As we look to the fall, we want to make sure there are all sorts of places for people to connect within our church community. So we’re aiming and anticipating for new groups to form to help fill this beautiful need!

If you are interested in starting a group – whether as a host, leader, or both – we’d love to hear from you! Groups can be topical (delving into an issue or book). Or groups can simply focus on cultivating community. The main thing is gathering people together in such a way that embodies familia!

Got an idea for a group? Or interested in becoming a leader? Great! You can fill out this simple form to let us know!

Three Events Coming Up

1. Greenline Housing Fundraiser

There’s still time for you to attend and/or participate in this incredible event! If you’re interested, please reach out to Rochelle Miles at relithe@yahoo.com.

2. Beach Day and Bonfire

Join us on Saturday, Aug 26th for a relaxing day at Dockweiler Beach and an evening around the fire pit. We’re aiming to reserve a fire pit just for our youth as well! Come for a while or stay the whole day! This invitation is open to any and everyone!

3. Concert in the Park!

Becca Hogshead is coordinating a fun night out on Saturday, September 9th at 6:30 pm. We’re invited to Charles Farnsworth Park in Altadena for an evening of music! Save the date and keep your ear out for more info on this one! We think it will be a great way to get out and have a great time together!

P.S. One last item to put on your calendar: Sunday, September 3rd will be a church-wide Sabbath Sunday. Which means no official church service. But instead, an opportunity to rest and reconnect with friends and familia outside of our normal weekly flow!
